I studied as a Silversmith at Plymouth Art College in England over 20 years ago.
But since graduating I have had various different jobs related to the Arts and Crafts world
For a few years, I had my own bushiness making cast silver musical instrument parts.
I have also worked for "Les Monuments Historique" in France this is a government organisation that takes care of and restores all the old national buildings in France such as castles, religious buildings and historical sites, and there are a lot!. I worked in Brittany restoring the inside of some of the numerous churches and chapels. My job was to re-gilding the statues and retables with gold leaf and to restore the polychrome ( paint )
I also have worked in the cinema industry as a set painter and builder.
With Vintage Decor Français I have come back to my childhood love of old objects, I had my own museum as a child of 5 years old and was always interested in objects and their history. Saving objects for future generations to admire and treasure is my mission in life now.
I live in a rural region of France between Brittany and Normandy. My village is full of history as it used to be a large town in Roman times, 2000 years ago. There are Roman ruins dotted around the village which now has fewer inhabitants than during its heyday.
During the summer flea market season, I spend my weekends hunting for treasures at the local "Vide Grenier " which literally means empty attic.
